Motor issue withh 1999 Yamaha F100

Last weekend when I went fishing the motor would bog between 2000-3200 rpm. It starts fine, idles fine, and runs fine up to 2000 rpm and then from 3200 rpm to WOT at 6000 rpm. It also does it when coming back down through that rpm range. I changed spark plugs and gas filter this week but it did the same thing this morning. Any ideas?

I'd try cleanig and synchronizing your carbs. Sounds like one or 2 low speed jets may be plugged and not letting it transition into high rpm's smoothly.

It could be one of a lot of things.

The greatest load put on the outboard is just after you punch it. A bad plug, wire or weak coil will show up at that time. First thing I'd do is replace the plugs.

Next it sounds like its happening when the bow is up, once on plain she runs fine. The fuel level in the carbs aren't optimal when the outboard is tilted. Normally the outboard shouldn't flood or run lean for that small amount of time. Its an indication that the fuel system needs attention. If thats the case then most likely the fuel level in a carb.

Next time out and she acts up and thats after you replaced the plugs, put it on plain at a slower rate and see what happens.

Also just for the nuts of it have a compression test done.
