Issues with Trolling Motor Need Help ASAP

svttom01

Question

I have a three year old MinnKota bow mount trolling motor. I brought my boat out last week and it worked fine now I go to get my boat ready today for bass opener and the prop won't spin. I turn it on and can hear a sound in the lower unit connected to the prop, but for whatever reason the prop won't spin. I installed two fresh deep cycle batteries so that isn't an issue. Anyone have a clue on what it could be? I am frantic right now. Bass opener in less than 12 hours for me and the trolling motor doesn't work. AGHHHHH!!!! Thanks for any input or suggestions on who/where to bring it to.

If is getting power for sure (or shows it if you have a power test button) but it's just dead beyond that.. it's the main board. Whatever that actually is.. mine went out after 3 months! They replaced it free but I was without for a week. Seems to be something I've heard of happening to more people than just myself frown.gif

Good luck.

It is now fixed. I realized I didn't fully connect the 2nd battery all the way so the motor was only getting 12 volts instead of 24 which it requires. The trolling motor would turn on at 12v but the prop will only spin on 24v. Thankfully I can rest easy knowing I'll be able to fish bass opener weekend.
