Oil Warning buzzer on Merc 50hp

Neiko

Question

I have a 1992 50hp mercury and my warning buzzer goes off as soon as I turn the key on. It is a beep, beep, beep which according to the book it is an oil sensor warning. There is plenty of oil in tank. There is plenty of water going through motor. I replaced the sensor coming out of the tank. I have replaced the warning buzzer. I even replaced the $100 module and when that checked out ok I was lucky enough to return that. The puzzling part is that it buzzes even without engine running. As soon as I turn the key on it buzzes. All my other guages work. I have circuit buttons and everything connected to those work. Any suggestions????

If you have the remote oil tank and run the 6 gallon tank just elimitate the oil tank and mix your oil with the gas i had the same setup on a 45 mariner everybody i talked to told me to get rid of it . your buzzer should sound when you first turn your key and go off after a few seconds also my motor has never ran any better since i got rid of the oil injection it smokes less and it seems to idle better.

My oil tank is in the motor and I have a 17 gal built in tank. I have never had a problem with my motor running and it still runs fine. My buzzer used to come on when I turn the key on but then go off. Now it keeps beeping even when the motor is not running.
