Fuzzy
Last year while fishing on Lac Seul we were paid a vistit by the Conservtion Officer. We had no violations but were told we were required to wear our life jackets while the boat was under power. I have never heard that before and cannot find it listed in the regulations. Now I agree that it is a good idea, but is it required? Will I get a ticket if it is not worn?
fishyguy
I am not sure what the regs are but we have been told the same by the MNR officers we have come across.
KTroller
Here's a quote from the Canadian Office of Boating Safety HSOforum and a link. Seems fairly non-specifichttp://www.tc.gc.ca/BoatingSafety/facts/foreign.htm#3Safety Equipment Requirements Foreign pleasure craft (pleasure craft that are licensed or registered in a country other than Canada) need to comply with equipment requirements of the country in which the vessel is usually kept.I have not been able to find anything stating that lifejackets be worn while underway. Here's another link that talks about PFDs and other requirements.http://www.tc.gc.ca/MarineSafety/TP/TP511/boat.htm#Powered_pl_craft_less_6mKT
Hemlock
That's news to me, I thought they just had to be accessible (like zipped on to your pedastal seat as opposed to stored below deck somewhere.)
