NBA Draft Lottery

I see the Wolves didn't get lucky again. Pick #7. I seen on ESPN last night had some dude has them taking the Horford kid from Florida. I think maybe we should move up a couple spots and take Conley Jr. from Ohio St. Although, Conley said he wants to keep playing with Oden. I don't know if the Blazers can make that happen. What do you think the Wolves would have to give up to move up to the #3-#5 spots? Do you think our #7 and Ricky Davis is enough? How about Kevin Garnett to the Sonics for their #2, a future first, and Ray Allen or Rashard Lewis? Then we would take Durant. I think next year when we are in the lottery we should send Felton Spencer to represent the Wolves. What do you guys think the wolves should do with their pick and offseason moves?

I'll assume you are joking. The Sonics entire front office staff would be fired if they made that deal.

Not joking. I am sick of seeing the wolves getting ripped off in trades. It is time to rip someone else off. KG has 1-2 great years left, Allen is on the downside. I don't know. I just want to see the wolves actually make a good deal. Wally trade was terrible, Marko trade was terrible. Maybe we should give the #7 to the clip joint and get that deal over with? We have so many bad contracts on this team I don't know where to start. We fired a coach that had a terrible roster and had a .500 record with it. Wittman is 20-25 games below and we keep him around. The only thing we have for us is KG and I think it is time to part ways.

I'm a huge KG fan but I am all for trading him if they can make a smart trade. But that's a huge if with the people running the Wolves. I don't think it makes much sense to trade up in the draft unless you can land the number 1 or 2 (not going to happen). The talent level between 3 and 7 is pretty much a wash. Any player that could go at 3 could potentially fall to 7.

On the mock drafts I've seen, they have Conley going as high as 3 or as low as 11. Corey Brewer as high as 4 or as low as 12. Brandan Wright, right now, is the most popular number 3 pick. But some have him falling as far as the Wolves at number 7. The point is, it's a total guessing game after the top 2 picks and I wouldn't trade up to any of the spots after that unless you have to give up basically nothing to get there.

I woldn't mind seeing Conley in a Wolves uniform. A backcourt of him and Foye would be pretty hard to stop. But they're already guard heavy. And unless they dump some of them for some serious upgrades elsewhere, that one wouldn't make much sense. Guys like Horford, Wright, Jianlian or Brewer get my vote with their current roster. But let's hope they make some moves to alter their roster in more ways than just the draft.

I am all for making a good trade or even ripping some one off but that means another team has to be as stupid as the timberwolves and I don't think thats possible. No one in their right mind would take the trade you mentioned.

Basically this is how it breaks down the way you wrote it...

Sonics get:

Kevin Garnett-maybe 2 good years left

Wolves get:

-#2 pick-Durant who is expected to be the nex KG

-a future first round pick

-Ray Alen- who has more years left then KG

You want the Sonics to give you all that for 2 years worth of KG?

You couldn't even make a straight up trade KG for the 2nd pick, Durant is expected to be a super star so why give him up for KG who will be gone in a few years? Durant will be alot cheaper for a few years also.

Does everyone feel that garnett only has a couple years left, because I don't. Garnett in my opinion will never be as good as the year before it but he will still be an all-star player in the next five years.

As for trading up in the draft I also think that is a bad decision because with mcchale it will just make the timberwolves worse.

I think we are heading in the right direction right now with our young players like Foye, Smith, Mccants, and our future 7th draft pick.

* Never trust McHale when drafting

*Mike Conley will be off the board to Atlanta #3. They have passed on a serious need, point guard, for three consecutive years (Rondo, Chris Paul, and Darren Williams have all been taken and Paul and Williams look like annual allstars at this point in their careers).

*I would love to see Horford but there is some talk of getting a Wright (Either Brandon or Julian). There is also discussion of Yi falling to us or Corey Brewer. This is a pretty deep draft but only McHale could screw it up.

KG has 1-2 GREAT years left. I think 22-12-4.5 are great numbers for a guy that is 7'0. Only a handful of guys average a double-double. He will be an all-star the next several years. After the next couple of years his numbers will start to fade but will still average a double-double. That is why we should deal him now to get the most for him. My hands are also deep in my pockets. Mchale needs to get rid of some of the bad contracts.(Marko,Hassell,Blount,Davis,Hudson)
