Electrical issue...

My dad has a Lund Tyee with a Lowrance 522c unit. For some reason, everytime we start the boat, the GPS unit shuts off and restarts. Obviously, we either hooked something up wrong or there is a fuse out or something. Anyone help? Thanks!

Try this: power cutting out

You have it connected to main battery, when you start your motor it could be 2 options:

1- Draw is too much for sonar, voltage drops below a certain threshold (usually 11volts) and shuts it off then back on immediately, your GPS re-starts and re-locates position.

2-You have it connected to a wire that shuts off power while cranking (to concentrate 100% of power to motor), find another power connection.

1 boat of mine does it as point 1, the other boat doesn't.
