Fishing for Pike

Recommended Posts

It's gonna depend on where you're fishing and what you're catching. If you're throwing those lures in areas with spawning bass, you might have problems. Also, if you start catching bass, MOVE. One bass, fine. Two bass, better start thinking about doing something diffeent. Three bass, and I would switch tactics/locations.

Shouldn't be a problem, but you never know when a CO is having a bad day.

and what should one do if you are on a shallow walleye bite....and catching at a ratio of 1:2 on raps?

I'm not a CO, so I can't say. You'd probably be fine if you are really fishing for (and catching) walleyes.

I'm not saying it's wrong to do, I'm just trying to save a guy a ticket! I personally plan on throwing spinners for pike this weekend and I am sure I will catch some bass, too.

Ralph or Pikeslayer, Any good spots to catch some Northerns in some good numbers. I live in south minnesota and really have not fished for them like I do in Canada. Any lakes where I guy could pick up 5 or 10 in a day. Thanks for your help and I am not asking for your hot spots just a lake in Southern Minnesota where a guy could cast and get a few nice pike. Thanks again

I am not sure how long of a drive it is, but Lake Zumbro north of Rochester is teaming full of Pike. Lots of numbers, I would guess average size is around 3 pounds. But I have heard of some bigger ones being caught out there, some double digit fish.

I've fished the Zum for green toothies before with absolutely no luck. What lures seem to work for you out there? Do you troll cranks or pound the banks?

Mainly Cranks, but I have caught them also on plastics accidently. I would concentrate on some of the sharper drops in tha lake. Along the high banks area and also straight across the lake from the pondy access, just south of the dam.
