Fished the LOW tourney this weekend, and my partner, ScottS, looks kind of like an Oompa Loompa-- if you know what that is! But come to think of it... I got pretty red too!!

PS-- I might be a little red... but I sure am windburned!

Does anyone else out there look like a meathead because they got a sunburn while ice fishing this weekend?

Green Lake (Chisago County) was giving up crappies and sunnies in 6 - 8 feet of water on Saturday. Although the crappies are usually under 9 inches, we happened to catch two 13 inchers and another handful around 10 inches. Despite the sunburn, it was well worth the trip as there was lots of action and we had the lake to ourserlves.

I thought it was real nice to be able to sit outside all day without my jacket on and without my hole freezung up. Pannyraid, were you catching those crappies on little green right out from the access or were you on the main lake? Did you catch them during the day?

Crappiehunter,

We caught the crappies more toward the south end of green in the weedy flats that range from about 6-8 feet. If you remember the old man who used to let people on the lake in the wintertime for $2 before the State shut him down, we were in that area. We fished from about 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and had pretty consistent action throughout the day. Most of the time the crappies were just underneath the ice and they were hitting both waxies and minnows. We drilled a ton of holes all over the flat and moved from spot to spot. We have fished Green quite a bit in the wintertime and it always seems that if you don't get a bite in the first five minutes - move. You might only have to move ten or 20 feet away, but for some reason it makes a difference. Good luck.
