LMITOUT
Dale Jr. to RCR? done deal? FOX25(Boston's FOX affiliate) is reporting.......Dale Earnhardt Jr. will soon be racing under the same legendary #3 Chevy that his dad used to race in. A source with direct knowledge of negotiations tells FOX25 that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has finalized a deal with Richard Childress Racing Thursday night and an official announcement will be coming soon. At a press conference today to announce that he was leaving the company his late dad built, Dale Jr. said he would have mixed emotions about driving his dad's #3 Chevy, but again, FOX25 has learned that this is a done deal. LMITOUT
I, myself am skeptical of this report. After all, it is FOX and we all know their accuracy in reporting resume whether it be nationally, MSP, or in Boston. Time will tell......
harvey lee
I guess only time will tell. I wouldnt be suprised if he went to RCR but, i would be to see him drive the 3 car. That would put alot of pressure on him and unneeded for sure.
eyepatrol
I feel that if Jr. can take some of life's pressures off his shoulders, such as not running in the #3 and the other business side of things, and if he can just get back to concentrating on having fun racing, we'll see him in victory lane much more often. He's had some good finishes and he's had some darn good cars, he just doesn't seem to be having as much fun. And that I think is an important factor. LMITOUT
FOX8 News has confirmed Junior is negotiating late Thursday night with Richard Childress to join Richard Childress Racing. An announcement could come as early as Friday. Childress has scheduled a news conference Friday at Darlington Raceway, the site of Saturday's Nextel Nextel Cup race. Sports Director Rich Brenner has also confirmed the talks between Junior and Childress include plans for Earnhardt driving the #33 Chevrolet for RCR. Budweiser, the primary sponsor for Junior's #8 car with DEI, will follow him to his new race team.

jbell1981
In the news conference this morning RCR is denying signing him Thursday night. But, as we know with these things, that really doesn't mean anything.
VMS
Regardless of rumormill or not, I feel that Jr. going to RCR would be the logical step to take. They have been much stronger as an organization as of late, and their crew of Drivers right now is fairly strong as well. Burton brings in the Level Headedness RCR has needed, which I think has helped Harvick out quite a bit. Having Jr Join would make them that much stronger. In the 3? Maybe... seems logical to do that, but that would be his choice.I just don't see him going to Gibbs racing... Granted they could expand to one more car, but I think Jr will go to the strongest company that would be able to field a 4th car.In some ways, I'm glad he is leaving DEI....There has never been a really strong relationship there, and she is taking the direction of DEI away from where Senior wanted it to go...he wanted it to be for the kids. With Jr Leaving, none of them are with the company now, and I see DEI struggling to find good drivers in the future. could be interesting in the next couple of years to see if DEI even survives in cup.Steve
