Shoot through hull transducer.

I'm looking at mounting a transducer inside the hull of my kayak which is made of polylink 3 (polyethylene). To my knowledge shoot through hull transducers will only shoot through fiberglass, anyone know if I would be able to read through this material? Has anyone else mounted a transducer inside the hull of a canoe or kayak not made out of fiberglass?

I think Vexilar makes a shoot through hull transducer for aluminum.

Thanks, I think that kayak is made of fiberglass though. I did some searching and couldn't find a definate answer. Have an e-mail out to the company now unless the owner of the Keowee finds this post and can answer sooner.

I have a polyethylene kayak (Wilderness Systems Tarpon 140) and my transducer works perfectly through the hull. I have a setup similar to Jim43 except I used a rubber cap over a PVC tube attached with 3M Marine Goop. I filled the PVC tube with warm vasoline to removes bubbles. This has held up for nearly a year; I even transport my kayak upside-down and the jelly-filled PVC tube has stayed in place without leaking.

Jim's kayak is polyethylene. Guess I have another project cut out for me. Thanks for the tips and if anyone else has done this or anything else please let me know. Oh and one last thing, what kind of battery life do you get on these?
