Trolling motor battery

ellroy2

Question

I am getting a Minn Kota Endura 55# transom trolling motor that will be used on two different boats. What battery is the best to get? Dick's Sporting Goods has a Minn Kota brand dual purpose battery for 90 bucks. Is that a good deal? Also I will be hooking up a depth finder to the same battery. I don't know if that matters what I get.

I just picked up a Mills Fleet Farm Resolute brand battery....$55 I believe for a Deep Cycle with 175RC.....should check them out. My other option (which I am still considering) was a Werker from Batteries Plus....it is their top of the line Deep Cycle with out getting an Optima or an AGM.

Ellroy, if this battery is just for your trolling motor and electrics, get a deep cycle battery, not a dual purpose. If you use this for your starter motor on the back, get a dual purpose.

Good advice. Get yourself a deep cycle with a large reserve. I get mine at Sam's Club and have no problem with them lasting for years. I believe I have one thats going on 10 years. Keep the fluid up and charge the battery after every use.
