Its June 2-3 this year and is statewide. In addition to no license needed, you also can trout fish without a stamp. It is the first full weekend in June each year.

How long has this been going on? I've never heard of this before. I used to fish WI pretty much every weekend until about 10 years ago. Now I only get there maybe once a year. So a no license weekend sounds interesting.

Jim,

Thanks for the info. Parents have a cabin in WI that I go to. But with only one or two trips over there a year, I never know if I should buy an annual license or a 4 day if I'm only going to be there once for the year. Now I could maybe make that first weekend in June one of my two trips and save a couple bucks.

Thanks,

Aaron

Thanks guys! We will see what happens this year. You guys have a good opener and post images of all your big fish (or little ones).

Wi. free fishing weekend is open to anyone. I've heard that Mn free fishing weekend is only good for Mn residents. Is that true? If so thats pretty shady. Dosen't matter to me because I buy a non resident year around anyway. Just curious.
