Made it out on the MN last night with Riverhog. He started the night out with a small channel early on cut chub. My first run of the night my line ended up breaking . Riverhog hooked up with a decent fish about 20 minutes later. Turned out to be a 41x24 flat(28.8 lbs). Took some pics with and without the control item. Then compared the numbers between the two and realized he was 1/2 inch off an upgrade. Oh well. I finished the night with a small flat and a missed run with the hook turning back into the bullhead.

Sorry to hear bout the break off..... That hurts.... I had 2 last time I was out.

Look on the bright side hopefully we got them out of our systems for the Moores contest next Sat...

I'm thinking that you might just want to give your entry fees to Dtro and Me rather than make more work for BOB. LOL

I'm not sure if there was a weak spot in my line or what. I always check my knots. My rod got thumped hard, then a slight load followed by clicker music. Took the rod out of the holder and engaged the reel. Rod loaded up and I set it. I thought I just wiffed on the hookset, but realized right away after reeling that I lost my whole set up. Instant snap. There was a lot of structure in the area so who knows whats under the water there. First time I've seen 80 lb. PP break like that.

I'll be stocking my bullies and creek chubs later this week to get ready for the contest.

41x24 and 28.8 pounds. I thought it was .5 from an upgrade but it actually 1.5 away. Plenty of time left to get a bigger one.

Tell ya what, one nice channel from Honky Kong and you guys are SERIOUS contenders.

I had my jacket on until I got her in the boat. Just took it off to handle the fish. Luckily we chose to stick with the MN river for the last contest. We had thought about going to P2.

flaco- yeah i'm here. i've been quiet cuz the fish haven't been kind to me. i haven't been out as much lately and the times i do get out i bring home the big goose egg. i may give it a shot this evening or tomorrow afternoon. i realize the window is about to shut and have been trying to target the channels but to no avail. frustrating is the key word to the last month and a half of fishing. i've been trying though...this thing is over on sunday right?

Yep, sunday at 11:59 pm.

Thats fishing, they don't always cooperate when we want them to. Not much you can do when baits out there and they won't eat. If ya do pick up a channel thats cool, if not no big deal. Good luck if ya make it out. We'll probably be out Friday and saturday if you wanna give the metro a shot.

i work friday and am going hunting saturday am, then work saturday night. i've been working on my boat the last 2 days but am gonna try a few hours out tonight. and tomorrow afternoon. i'm bummed i didn't make it up to any metro spots this summer. the front end of my truck went to hell and i didn't venture too far from kato all season. finally got it fixed, almost, in time for the cold weather to arrive. i have a bunch of frozen suckers that i need to use now as i plan on filling the freezer with birds real quick here. hopefully i can get a channel,i haven't caught one for a couple years. my biggest ever was a 9 lber and i like the fight from em. i'll definatly give it one last shot.
