Hotspotter
FM's very own Jon Petrowske, or Jonny-P as we all know him by, will be furthering his passion for the outdoors by extending his guiding season year-round on Minnesota's Upper Red Lake. As many of you know, Jon is a fourth generation Petrowske who didn't follow the crappies in, but was born and raised on Red Lake's shores. He's a tournament angler with thousands of hours on the ice/water every year, and is ready to take clients out on many types of excursions in the Upper Red Lake area. His boat is currently equipped for everything from casting for musky/pike, to spider-rigging for crappeis, to planer board trolling and downrigging for walleyes, and setting for Sturgeon. Jon's intimate knowledge of Red Lake and the surrounding area offers you an opportunity to learn not just tricks, tips, and strategies, but a chance to learn spots that underwater topographic mapping have either missed or cannot express. Check out Outdoors With Jonny P for a full list of the types of trips available, and a run-down of everything you'll need. Jon is connected with local lodging operations in the area, and will help make the entire trip go smoothly. Look north to this relatively untapped summer fishery, have Jon help you make it a memorable summer vacation. As a teaser, here's some current photos of your guide setting the hook and fighting a 50"+ sturgeon!
eyepatrol
Nice fish there JP! Did you make it to Schuster's last weekend? I tried to keep an eye out for ya, but then, sometimes that's all I had left was one good eye.
harvey lee
I'm going fishing with this Jonny P dude in early June. I have fished with Jonny before and its always a great time. For anyone looking for a great day of fishing and at the same time would like to learn about Red or some finer technique's about chasing some bigger fish, do yourself a favor and go out with Jonny. He will give it his all every time he is out fishing. I have personally fished with many different guides on numerous lakes and Jonny is as good or better than most. If your looking for a real treat, call up jonny and set up a trip. If your looking for slabs, eyes or a bigger northern and also the brute muskies, Jonny will see to it that you will have a good chance of catching them. Deitz Dittrich
One of my great friends Jonny Petrowske is one of the best big fish hunters I know. But he can catch big little fish as well. Jon is a guide up on Upper Red Lake, I talk to him about some early season Crappies, as well as what to do to catch the walleye and the large Pike that are in URL. http://hotspotoutdoors.com/podcast/hsopodcast042907-FMstart.mp3
Random guy
Thanks guys. I wanted to also let everyone know this year I replaced all the gear, from the boat right down to rods reels and tackle. I also added a second boat to line up, if the water gets any lower or if some crazy breakdown happens on the new boat I have a second boat ready to go.I look forward to this years open water season and meeting some new clients from the pages of Fishing Minnesota.
