Yup, good lighting. I love the second one. I'm not too crazy about the composition on the first one. He appears to be looking outside the picture. It is nice and sharp though.

Carl, I really like the fur textures in the second shot, and the way the earth echoes the color tones of the animal.

thanks for the kind comments. the 2nd one seems to have a bit more action or energy in the shot.
