BLACKJACK
I've been out several times now with my FL18 and one problem that I've had is that SOMETIMES I can't see my jig - in this case an Angel Eye - right away. Last weekend I was in 20 feet of water and I'd open the bail up and let it drop. If the Vex locked in on it on the fall, if I could see it on the right screen an it fell, then I would see it in the 6 foot zone on the left. But sometimes it would fall all the way to the bottom without showing up - the line would get slack, I knew it was on the bottom, I'd raise it up a foot and start jiggging and it would take 30-45 seconds to show up! Once it 'locked in' on the jig I would see it fine, its just that sometimes it took quite a few seconds. I tried turning my gain up but that wasn't the answer. Anybody else have this problem? Is the Angel eye fluttering out of the transducer cone?
Ybone
Yes, the Angel Eye flutters off to the side and reenters the cone after you jig it back. It's actually a good thing because it enables you tou cover more area from a hole.
Ruegs23
Ybone is right on here. I noticed this to the first time I used the angel eye. I was confused at first, I didn't think the lure go go that far to the side but it does. Your vexilar is working just fine!!
Steve Foss
Ditto my experience. In fact, most lures, be they spoons or jiggin Raps, fall out of the cone if you're in even medium deep water. Have fun with the new 18. I've got the FL8-SLT, but I've been eyeing the new one. Give us a post on how good it is.------------------Steve ([email protected])
Raven
Been doing a lot of hard water fishing this year with my FL-18. A number of guys I ran into had their FL-8s and after seeing how the FL-18 worked in the AZ (zoom) mode they all said they were going to get one. I think they are fantastic. They do have a minor glitch, but Vexilar is doing the upgrade free. Even with the glitch, I think this thing is the only way to go. Also, instead of the 12 degree transducer, I opted for the dual - 9 and 19 degree. Works great.
