Anyone out there have any input on the lake assault boats. I'm looking at purchasing one, but would like to get as much input as I can. It's a large purchase and want to make sure I'm making the right decision.

Thanks!

I've never seen one of Lake Assault's boats but from what I'm told they sound similar to Zag Fab boats built up in Gimli Manitoba. I have seen a few of those and they are quite impressive. All welded construction of very heavy gauge aluminum, virtually indestructable. You might want to check their HSOforum just for some comparison. Good luck. Old Sneller

Not an owner but frequent passenger, and love it... Have seem a few of their products and am very impressed. Strong and sturdy, and everything needed. WOuld love to hear from a owner for some pro's and cons. not great advice but I would look at them if I were in the market.

"INDUSTRIAL" would be the term or word to discribe this boat. HEAVY also comes to mind but if thats not a problem I guess I would seriously look into one if you do allot of walleye fishing or big water fishing. Been in one a couple times at sport shows and very basic with not to many option compared to your lunds, Crestliners, yar crafts, etc.

If that is something you are interested in I would certainly take the time to look into one. I know Gary Clancy of the Outdoor News has owned one and I'm sure he would give you his .02 if could contact him.

Good Luck.

when you say "not to many option compared to your lunds, Crestliners, yar crafts, etc.," what do you mean? I was told that they can put anything I could want in there. Is there something I'm not being told?

Thanks for your input!

Let me explain a little more before I do any damage here. What I should have stated is the model that I looked at was at the Blaine Muskie Expo in March and it looked very simple, for lack of better words. I didn't know they could customize and add or subtract compartments or storage to your boat. I think I might have stepped out of line and didn't make my self clear enough, sorry.

If they are more of a customized boat for every one then I would most seriously look into talking with them compared to set models or floor plans like the big manufacturers.

Regarding what you should get depends on what, how, and where you do the most fishing. For example if you do allot of trolling for walleyes you may need a rod locker to hold up-wards to 9' rod lockers. Bait wells in front and back of the boat. Dry storage for gear, tackle boxes, anchors, etc. I would give them a call and talk to them directly and then if possible ask to test drive one.

That's were I would start.

Good Luck,

mr

walleyetighe,I have been paying attention to Lake Assaults boats for several years. They will put anything in the boat you want, unlike line boats like Lund <Crestliner Alumacraft>G-3 or any other brand.

I sent a empty hull their for The nephew of Plant president at Crestliner, because they dont do custom, and This guy got exactly what he wanted:Crestliner 20 footer with his boat finished by Lake Assault. this is an outfitter and uses it more for hunting in extreme weather and water conditions.. wink.gif

As another custom Boat Builder I start with Empty New hulls from several companies.I would send anyone to The Lake Assault Boat Company .You will get a much better boat that they do from scratch than anything done my way.

I have watched as their engineer consultant will travel in from west coast to get a special project like the ordinance boats and government order stuff. The only other companies i know of that get orders from Uncle sam are Boston Whaler and Sea Arc[pt boats etc].

Buy the boat you will love it.
