Dryden area

Hey folks, I MISS SUNSET COUNTRY BAAAAAADDD. Low on funds and and need to get out of the twin cities to go catching, oh I mean fishing. Anyone know where me and a buddy could stay while up there. Looking for a cheap cabin or lodge that isn't full for the summer, or a campground or something similar to throw a tent down. I am not a resident so is there any way to get a permit to camp close to water, other than being 1/2 a K away? Planning to stay near Dryden, since that is where I am most familiar. I have been to Thadeus and ord litterally dozens of times, fished millers bay on lac suel, moose,basket, eagle, wabigoon, mary... So... any one got any suggestions? Would love a camp permit but not sure if possible, other wise a open campsite, or rent a hotel in Dryden and make a base camp there????? THanks for any options you may throw our way!!!

I would think that you can find a cabin up Ear Falls way for close to the same as a hotel in Dryden and then not have to drive to the water every day. We stayed in Dryden one night last year prior to going up to Ear Falls and it was 89 or 99 a night. Our cabin (Timberlane) is $57/person per night. We brought our own boats and the $57 included minnows and gas. Not sure of availability but if your schedule is somewhat flexible, you may find some openings. Any legal ways to camp around here, or any campgrounds on a good lake for walleye?

Well if there is crown land there by a traveled road you can get the camping permits. I know of a place ,not by dryden though, where for 12 bucks a day you can get camp sites even out on the Islands you would be all by yourself, or at the main marina.
