How fast do bass grow here in MN?

I was crappie fishing yesterday on a lake subject to periodic winterkills. The bass were in there thick, we hooked about a dozen on crappie minnows and waxies. Most were in the 15-16 inch range. Just curious how long it would take for these fish to hit the 20 inch mark if the lake doesn't kill off?

Far too many variables! Some fish never will get to the 20" mark... It depends on how fertile the water is, what the bait in the lake is, if there is enough food to support the number of bass in the lake.

I think It doesn't take a bass that long to get to 15-16inches.. but I think it takes them a lot longer time to get any bigger then that...I would say 3 years depending on the lake for a bass to get from 16inches to 20in.. just a guess.. I fish a lot of bass in the summer time..

This is an age and growth chart I got from a guy at the DNR. It is supposed to be the average growth of largemouth bass in Minnesota. This is statewide so it will vary location to location, but it's a pretty good average.

Thanks for that Black Bay... a 5 year old fish before its a legal tournament fish.. WOW... and 10 years to be 4lbs plus?...
