Virgin's Obsession with Greatest Pitcher to not win the Cy Young Award!

Recommended Posts

Virgin,

What is your obsession with this???

Would every body please ring in with their vote to shut this guy up, PLEASE???

My vote would be Billy Chapel, I think if he didn't give up that homer to Roy Hobbs in the ninth inning of the Series he would have easily won the CY!!!

I'm gonna place my entry and maybe you two can get past this . 1st off Virg , this question is subjective base on the person answering who he thinks is the greatest pitcher . Windy the Twins hater thinks its Billy Chapel and I'm going to say its Babe Ruth . Of course it could be Satchel Page too . See what I mean ? Virg , just give your take on who you think it might be and you and Windy can move onto a different topic . By the way , did you know that Cy , of Cy Young fame , was a nickname that was short for Cyclone ? His real name was Fenton or Denton , something like that .

I might have to change my vote, I am thinking that Rick "Wildthing" Vaughn should get some consideration. If he wasn't bothered so much by his nephew Jake, his brother Alan and his boss, Gordon Geko, I think he could have won more than the two World Series that the Indians did. Sorry that it was against my Pale Hose but he deserves some consideration.

Thoughts???

Windy,

With your permission, I would like to nominate Kyle Lohse, Twin's reject, current Cincy Red. Did I mention he shutout the Cubs today? grin.gif

Just gettin' my cheap shots in before that $300 million dollar batting order wakes up Geno.

I agree with you Rip, he could have cut his hand when he was messing around with that samuri sword with Whitney Houston also! And Spinner, I will second that vote as well. Lohse looked awful good laying the Cubbies down today. How many trips do you think he will make in the NL before they are onto his pitches like the AL hitters were?

That's alright guys, lay it on me. After all, I could be called worse than a "Cubbie lover".....Nappy-headed comes to mind.

The problem is I don't have much ammo to fight back with so like when we were young, I'll just ignore you and you'll get tired of picking on a defenseless guy and just go away.

(Don't go away mad, just go away!)

Somehow or another I got the impression this question was orginally about the best pitcher not to win a WS. Anyway, on another thread, I nominated Ferguson Jenkins-one (of a handful of) great Cub pitcher who also lost alot of 1-0 games-and one of the best "command" pitchers of my time for sure.

PS Sorry I don't remember Major League, or The Natural, or that other movie about baseball.

To some degree they have already. Lohse has good stuff, but was and is a head case. He gets hit hard every third start, and very effective every third start. NL is his only chance. He can survive over there for years IMO, but only with a very attentive pitching coach. High maintenance he is for sure, as predicted by most here. He is lucky steady decent pitching is hard to find.
