JigginIsLife
I was looking through the new cabelas catalog and noticed a new item. an underwater stick led. its boyant so you can add split shots to it and make it sink and be able to pull it up when your done. its theory behind it is light attract micro-organisms which brings bait fish which inturn brings the fish... anyone have any expirenece with these things. i would immagine it would work better on the ice but do they actually work. fisherking01
you should check regulations, as most artificial light is illegal for taking fish in MN. It is in fact illegal to submerge artificial light for this. Some states allow it, some not.
CrappieAttitude
I would say that they would probably work...However I am not sure how LEGAL they would be.CA
Deitz Dittrich
As the 2 above posts state, I am pretty sure this is not legal in our state. The reason it would be in the Cabelas catalog is they sell to the nation, not just us. Before you buy, give the regs a good check.
CrappieAttitude
According to page 10 of the MN fishing regulations...Using an artificial light to lure or attract fish, or to see fish when spearing is unlawful. Exception: While angling, a person may affix to the end of a fishing line a lighted artificial bait with hooks attached. Any battery that is used in lighted fishing lures cannot contain any intentionally introduced mercury.
AaronM
So it seems the LED lights are a no-go for Minnesota. Here's my question, my great uncles used to build bon fires along the shores of local rivers at night to attract bullheads. What would the legality of that be? I'm am sure that there are a lot of fishing techniques that the "old timers" used that were productive, but we can't live in the past. We need to follow the rules of the present.I guess the fire could be argued either way, but if it was on shore and happend to keep them warm and brought about the curiosity in the bullheads, I guess there wouldn't be a way to say that it was illegal.CA
Scott K
And who is going to miss a few bullheads anyway!
