Trappers Landing Lodge

Recommended Posts

Heres a new sponsor with some very nice vacation spots.

Trappers Landing Lodge

Trapper's Landing Lodge will provide you with the luxury Minnesota cabin you believed was beyond your reach. Odyssey Development, one of Minnesota's leading resort developers, will oversee all development, construction and marketing for Trapper's Landing Lodge. And like our other three resort properties, Odyssey Development will stay involved as your partner in the future by providing all on-going property management and vacation rental services.

Trapper’s Landing Lodge will offer approximately 45 resort homes. Most will either feature lakefront property or lake views, with over 1,600 feet of spectacular Leech Lake shoreline. Other luxury resort amenities will include: a 51 slip full-service marina, a historic restaurant and lounge, housekeeping services and full facilities management. Rare is the place in the Midwest that can offer all of these amenities and services that make for a great Minnesota family resort vacation and still offer the sportsman’s attributes that occur at a world class lake, such as Leech Lake.

You can contact Odyssey Development at 1-866-665-3324 or thier web site at http://www.trapperslandinglodge.com

Thanks Harvey & Dietz. Trappers Landing Lodge is our new baby where I will be spending the majority of my summer helping open up and get rolling. Seems like a good reason to get out and fish, right? Right! grin.gif

With our resorts we always have gone by we do "things" and we do them right! Depending on our location these "things" have ranged from skiing, dining, north shore, snowmobiling,etc.. to now this exciting project, our first resort on a recreational lake that allows more than just taking in the beauty.

We will be hitting the ground running this year opening up with 6 Lakehomes and plenty more to follow, a full service marina and revamping what was formely known as Margarita Mulligan's soon to be The Beach Fire Grill . The resort itself is set up as a quartershare concept which allows folks to buy in on a full, half, 1/4, or 1/6 of a unit without spending large amounts of money for their cabin, then when they don't use it we rent it out along with keeping up with all the yardwork, cleaning, maintenance, etc.

If your in the area be sure to stop in and say Hi! I will be working on learning the lake a little better with some of our local staff and hopefully be sharing some great fishing reports.

We will see you on the water!

This is a very exciting project for Odyssey Development and a different twist on our usual ventures. Like Cheffery said, when we do "things" we do them right. I will not be fortunate enough to spend as much time there as Tom will, but I will make a few appearences. Glad to be aboard as a sponsor. See you on the water!

Ya Odyssey not only employs a lot of FMers but a lot of us eat and drink at their establishments as well.

Salmon Wontons and South Shore Nut Brown. MMM!

Good luck with all this Cheffrey and Shiner. I will have to get the better half up there for a few days in Aug.

As a now former employee, I can go on record, without bias grin.gif, and say that you can not go wrong with Splashing Rock Restaurant in Castle Danger. The people serving you and cooking for you go the extra mile. The food alone is first rate, but combined with the atmosphere and excellent wait staff that put your needs first, its no wonder the restaurant continues to earn awards and accolades. You will be in the right hands with people that like coming to work. The atmosphere is friendly and you will see smiles on everyone’s face.

For me to thank everyone that I worked with would be a long list, so I will stick with the FMers by telling you a little about them.

Cheffrey. I only got to meet him a couple times, but boy does he grease the skids and makes thing efficient. Really knows his craft inside and out, and from what I hear is a fun guy to drop a line with. Hopefully I will get a chance to do some fishing with him…Burntside Bash perhaps? I may be emailing for some recipes…

RodnGun. One guest put it this way: this guy wakes up every morning and P’s excellence. Just a fun guy to be around. Best impressions by far. Always fun to work with. You will not have a disappointing or unentertaining night when he’s tending bar. Watch out when he shuts down the bar until someone from the kitchen brings him a sugar cookie. A sugar cookie mon! (inside joke)

I’lltakewhatIcanget. Super friendly and helpful. Always gets you what you need. Be sure to visit him at Great Lakes Fly company. Passionate about all fishing and especially fly fishing. Heck, I bought a steelie rod and reel from him. Can’t wait to meet up with him and the rest of the gang either this fall or spring to chase a few.

Quickstrike. Has lots of great stories to share about life and fishing. Many times it seems the two intertwine. He’s flyfished since he was a kid and knows the Arrowhead region like the back of his hand. Another friendly and helpful staff member, enough so that I also bought a fly rod form him! Looking forward to some fall and spring adventures with him and the rest. Let’s see you snag a diver on a roll cast while duck hunting this fall, that’s gotta be worth a few points.

Shiner2367. Probably the guy I owe a debt of gratitude to. Set me up with a nice job that has helped me buy a few toys (Fred Bear tricked out bow, 2 fly rods, etc, etc.) and still save some money for my better half and school. Was super accommodating in scheduling around my day job and was more than truthful than describing the job and pay, when many others in this line of work are not. Great guy in and out of the job. I hope we’ll stay in touch for a few hunting and fishing adventures.

This goes for everyone on here: Life’s too short to not treasure every friend you can meet, and in particular, you can never have too many hunting and fishing friends. I met some pretty good guys in just over 3 months work.

So to wrap things up, go to Splashing Rock restaurant, have a cocktail and enjoy a chat with one of the bartenders, and do yourself a favor by grabbing a meal with friends or family at the restaurant. Ask for Tom or Nate and let the managers know that you had a great time. I know I’ll be back!

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
