i heard rick sutcliff on kfan today say he thinks cuddy will be an all star this year blush.gif as much as i would like to see this it will be very hard to down right impossible for him to go.he'll never get voted in as we all know it is a popularity contest and unless gardy is the manager he most likly wont be added.to bad he is just another example of a good player thats just not a superstar.might not be all bad though if he were to make it his price would just go up grin.gif

Let's see...right fielder Cuddyer or Guerrero? Lot's of better right fielders out there...Sheffield, if he's playing right for Detroit...is another. Fat chance for ol Cuddy I think. He did lead the AL with outfield assists last year I believe but, he's average defensively and offensively otherwise.

If I remember correctly, all three outfield positions get lumped into one. So he's not just competing against right fielders. Maybe Morneau will pull a hammy, Santana will pitch the day before the break, Nathan will be too tired after saving 70 games, Mauer will catch a cold, and Hunter will stub his big toe. The Twins still have to have one represenative at the game.

Cuddy would likely have to have close to MVP numbers for this season to be an All-Star next season, that's just the way it works with small market teams. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I still think it's true. Do I think he should be an All-Star this year? If he improves upon last years numbers, sure, if not, no, but he's very good.

Incidentally after some of the ridiculous things Rick Suttcliffe (sp) said in the Monday night game this week I now have to question things he says while broadcasting for other teams. Case in point, paraphrases of his Eastern media clouded bunk:

1)You know if Jeter wins the battle title last year he makes up the 15 votes to pass Mourneau.

2)Joe Mauer winning the batting title on the last day of the season gave him the MVP. (He didn't win it on the last day, he could have sat out & won it, he was already leading. He didn't sit out & went & got two more hits to prove he deserved it!)

3)How much higher could have Jeter's average been if he wasn't doing all the little things to get runners over batting in the two hole? (What, Mauer doesn't do those things in the three hole? Mauer attempted to bunt the runner over twice last night alone (4/11)! What about the virtual All-Star lineup batting all around Jeter, so they can't pitch around him?)

Rick was rickdiculous!
