It has come to our attention that some new members feel out of the loop. That it was hard to get in on the clicks.

We welcome you and everyone should feel welcome to ask for information, share, and contribute.

A few policies we hold important here:
1. No Personal attacks on other members
2. No attacks on businesses
3. No unauthorized links.
4. Folks who come here are here to share information about outdoor pursuits, not bash it or whine about it.
5. If you have an issue with the way the forum is run, use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of almost every page. Constructive criticism is welcomed using the "Contact Us" link. It's what helps keep the forums improving. We may not agree, but the forums are no place to argue about forum management.
6. We encourage conservation and good family values.
7. Keep it honest and try to share info as well as receive.
8. Most important-KEEP IT FUN!

If you can stay within those guidelines and agree with them you will have a good time here and we have a huge mix of new members with the veterans who know the Policies and are very willing to share with you and they really enjoy the information you share as well.

So join in and let's have more fun.

Rick,

Just a question about links. What is an authorized link? Every once in a while I link a DNR article or other info. I don't want to break the rules but still want to help out my fellow fisherman/hunter. The rest of the info seems pretter straight forward.

Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction/disappointment with this forum. I have experienced the total opposite of what you described. Being new to Mpls and not having any fishing friends in the area, this site has helped me meet and connect with many great people who are as obsessed with fishing as I am. One way I've been able to connect with some of the people on this site is to attend some of the "Metro Lake Tour events."

Shared experiences are one way to feel more connected to your fishing community and this one. If I may suggest, you could set-up one of these events in your area (St. Cloud, is it?)by using this forum as a vehicle. You can do as much or as little as you choose. Some of the events I attended had food and beverages, others didn't. We all had a good time whether we ate or even caught any fish. All you really need to do is pick a time and a place to meet and fish.

If your interested and want some ideas, take a look and the "Metro Area lakes and rivers forum" and read some of the feedback posted about the tour. It is easy to tell that a good time was had by all.

just a thought

Links to the DNR are fine. If you have a question about a particular link, just use the "Contact Us" link below and shoot an e-mail with the proposed link on it.

I want to congratulate you on trying to keep this a productive, entertaining, and educational site were no matter how basic your question is you don't have to worry about being attacked or riddiculed by someone. If anybody needs to stir up an argument there's always a Yahoo chat room availabe. Keep up the good work.

I too, am fairly new to this site. I enjoy it very much. Even though nobody has responded negatively to my posts, it would not bother me if they did, or even if they dripped on the sarcasm. This is really my first ice season of trying to hit many different lakes in the Twin Cities. I think there are a lot of good tips out there. The only thing I think that this is a waste is that I would love to spend all of this time actually fishing.

Question: Are the identifiers like "angler advanced level" and "forum guide pro" determined by the number of times you have posted?

Thanks for the site.

Nels, you are correct about the levels being associated with the number of posts. Boys we have a quick learner here,...we best watch out. Nels, keep up the posts and you too soon will be advanced! Nice to have ya here!

A tip of the hat to Rick, you do great work with this sight and I love comming here to read what others have to say.
I must apologise for some of my posts, they were a little out of hand. I never fire the first shot, I only fire back when fired apon but I must use better self control. I pledge now to resist the temptation to flame on anyone.I will turn the other cheek.
It is this sight that has gotten me through what has been a rather disapionting ice fishing season and I have all of you to thank, especially Rick.
And sorry for all the poor spelling.

Have a good one!
