hoggs222
I've got a Toro 22" personal pace mower and I'm looking for the dethatching blade that you can attach to it. I already have a 16" blade, but I am looking for the 22" blade. The 16" blade doesn't create enough vacuum to bag while dethatching. Anyone know where you can get a 22" blade? JohnMickish
I've never been able to bag while dethatching. The blades I have always had are flat and do not create enough lift to bad. Change blades back and go over your lawn again to bad the junk.
hoggs222
Do you know where you can get a 22" dethatch blade? Less passes at least.
JohnMickish
I've only seen the shorter ones. If you find one let us know.
Dragonsm
I have seen these blades before, but have never used them. Do they work well or do they cause more harm than good to the yard?
hoggs222
They work really well. You lawn looks like H$LL afterward, but it's supposed to. I used this a few springs ago and it does the trick. You have to make sure your wheel settings are right. You don't want the tines going in too far.
Walleye Guy
A buddy of mine who is a lawn care nut told me that the de-thatching blades are smaller by design. If you are de-thatching a larger area (22 inches vs 16) you will have too much thatch under the mower and it will likely get clogged and bogged down with thatch.I have the same Toro mower as you do and run the smaller de-thatching blade. Once I am done de-thatching I put my regular blade back on and suck up the thatch with the bagger. You need to stop and empty the bag about every 50 ft. but it beats racking it up. braves57
do you guys mow the lawn real short before using these thatching blades?
Walleye Guy
I mowed mine real short on the last cutting in the fall. It makes the thatching easier in the spring and the yard catches less blowing leaves.
BobberTom
Hoggs, I also have the same mower as you. Where do I get a dethatching blade? Thanks, Bobber
hoggs222
I had to get the 16" blade from Home Depot.
Dave
I just borrowed my neighbor's John Deere walk behind with the dethatcher springs on front. Worked great! Ripped up the lawn way less than the blade dethatcher. Basically, it just "combed out" the thatch very well.
