BIFFLE

Recommended Posts

Since NOBODY has said anything , I'll sound off a little bit here. NASCAR finds his car too low after last week's racing and they don't dock him a single point, penny, or anything. Now if this was Gordon, Johnson or Jr , I suppose all the conspiricy theorists out there would have been crying foul , blah, blah blah grin.gifgrin.gif I also don't buy it's the COT thing, springs are springs, shocks are shocks and they all behave the same , no matter what they support. Sooo what gives?

I guess I'm a little sore after the crappy week I had in the standings so now I feel a little better. I'm off the soapbox now, so let me have it.

I would guess that no one cares what Biffle does as he isnt running very well. Thats not right but thats what happens. I guess that gives everyone else a free pass to have a issue after the race.

He got caught doing what most teams do, push the limit into the gray area. I say who cares about this racing stuff Brian, lets go catch some catfish.

I think its pretty interesting that they did nothing. Everybody that gets caught gets at least some penalty. Gordon lost a primo starting spot and had to go tail end charlie in a wreck fest. It didn't turn out to be much of a penalty, but it was SOMETHING anyway and The Biff should have gotten a similar slap on the wrist at least I would think.

Just more favoritism towards Rousch. Ever since he tried to kill himself in the airplane crash NASCAR lets him do whatever he wants. That's why he never could win a championship at any level before then and has several since!

There, that ought to get the Ford boys whipped up!

Since it was at Bristol its a non-issue because you want your spoiler (or wing in this case) as high up as possible for downforce. There is a maximum height but no minimum (only at super speedways) and there is no reason for a minimum height with everyone trying to get as high as possible in the rear. No conspiracy. I would have been more upset if they would have fined him just because the past few years NASCAR seems to write the rules as they go and it's getting rediculous.

Exceeding the maximum rear height is how Jimmie Johnson got caught at Dover with his illegal shocks. They kept pumping as he went over bumps which got the rear end up and effectively increased his downforce in the rear. After the race the shocks were supposed to relief and lower, but the NASCAR boys got their measuring sticks on his car before they had a chance. blush.gif

Biffle will not face discipline for car height: NASCAR will not penalize Greg Biffle's #16 team, despite the fact his Ford was found to be too low in post-race inspection at Bristol Motor Speedway, NASCAR vice president for competition Robin Pemberton said Wednesday. NASCAR has scheduled a news conference for Friday morning at Martinsville Speedway to explain their reasoning in detail. NASCAR took the #16 car back to its research and development center Sunday night after the Food City 500 and gave it a thorough inspection Monday. Officials determined that no unapproved adjustments had been made to the car, so NASCAR cleared the machine and returned it to Roush-Fenway Racing on Monday afternoon. The 2007 season began with a new, less tolerant approach toward rules violators, prompting many to suspect that Biffle and his team would receive a stiff penalty following the Bristol mishap. But NASCAR officials said the Car of Tomorrow is a work in progress, and that they anticipated the cars would lose some height during the race at Bristol. Officials ran eight cars through the height sticks during post-race inspection, and Biffle's was the only one that came back too low. Before making any permanent changes, NASCAR said it will likely make some rules adjustments in the future that benefit everyone.(ESPN.com)(3-28-2007)

Personally, I think this is all getting a little tiresome! If it were up to me, I'd say as long as every one has the same engine requirements and a basic body template, it should be a free for all after that. I mean really, who cares how low a car is as long as everyone has the opportunity to run it as low or high as they want. Let them run whatever shocks they want. If they want to drill holes in something, let them. I'm just getting sick of all the whining and crying that goes on. Nascar, the fans, the teams they all act like a bunch of 1st graders.

Favoritism toward Roush!? That is funny Dog!!! Your Hendrick boys get every break in the book. JJ's tire leaving the pit box.....HELLO!!! blush.gifgrin.gif

Nascar determined that the crew didn't make any illegal adjustments to the car and chalked it up as part of their learning curve on the COT's. This being the first race they have a gray area for inspection as they learn what these cars are going to react during the course of an entire race.

This is why he wasn't fined, it wasn't in the rule book.

NASCAR expands rear height tolerances for COT: NASCAR will give teams a half-inch tolerance instead of a quarter-inch on the minimum height requirement of the rear of the car during post-race inspection at car of tomorrow [COT] races, Nextel Cup Series Director John Darby told reporters Thursday. #16-Greg Biffle was outside the quarter-inch tolerance after a fifth-place finish at Bristol, but NASCAR won't penalize him because of the lack of benefit to the car to be that low. Darby also said that although it was procedural measurement with the car of tomorrow, it was never specified in the rulebook. He says NASCAR will continue to explore the minimum height of the rear of the car before making a steadfast rule. Darby also said that the minimum right-side weight was changed from 1,650 pounds to 1,700 pounds. As far as the problems some teams had with broken exhaust pipes, Darby said he expected that to be fixed. "The teams have been very weight conscious through this process," Darby said. "Most of the exhaust pipe failures that we saw were pipes that were constructed out of material that was much thinner than the pipes on yesterday's car were. iI should be an easy fix for the teams."(SceneDaily.com)(3-30-2007)

I do find it quite funny here how everybody has an opinion before they have the facts. Did any of you Biffle bashers know that there wasn't a minimum rear hight measurement in the rule book for the COT?

Harv, since the 16 is in front of the entire DEI crew (in points) does that mean that DEI gets to do what they want? If so then they really need to start running within the rules because what they are doing isn't working. grin.gif

Harv, I'm not trying to start another Jr. Vs whoever fight and get yelled at again but want to point out that I'm kind of a Biffle fan and your post above sure does open alot of doors for that to happen.
