Yes the president is not making those decisions. But don't you think nascar always has that in the back of their mind. The race sponsor has put up millions of dollars for this race, lets help make sure they get their money's worth so they will sponsor again. Its all about the might dollar, just like every sport has become. I do love racing, and have attended a couple of nascar races. They are a very exciting event to attend, but for them it comes down to who will give us money.

If you say this is true then how come Biffle didn't win the subway500, a dodge didn't win the dodge charger 500, kenseth didn't win the usg sheetrock400, I can name so many it is not even worth it. Yes there are times when the winner and the race is sponsored by the same company but how often does that really happen? Biffle won the ford 400, Harvick won the chevy rocknroll 400, are you saying that Nascar "cheated" for them also? Why can't you think that the company did a good job at picking a race to sponsor, one that the race team they are affiliated with runs good at? How come the team doesn't get a pat on the back for running a good race and being there at the end? I just don't see where you guys are getting your information. Don't get me wrong I am by no means a johnson fan, heck I can't stand the guy (if you have ever heard his radio show on XM you know what I mean) but the guy is a fantastic racecar driver and chad knaus is a awesome crew chief, you put those two together you get one very strong race team. Why can't people admit that?

Now if Ward Burton wins the race today I will take back what I just said smirk.gif

Not to start this discussion over for the billionth time, but if I recall from previous posts the logic presented at that time was that Gordon's championships meant more due to the claim that the competition is tougher now than it was in the past. With that said, applying the same logic one can conclude that since Sr's seven championships came after Petty's seven championships, Sr's are qualified as more significant, and thus Sr. is better than Petty.

Did any see the race on ESPN hsolist last evening? 1991 Martinsville Dale won the race and in second place KYLE PETTY!!!!!!!!! Yeah, ol' Sr. sure had some tough competition back then crazy.gif.

The field was soooo terribly poor back in the day, it's truely amazing Dale didn't win every race. I mean, cmon, look at the competition. In his career he raced against such slugs/hacks/wanna bes as Sterling Marlin, Richard Petty, Cale Yarbarough, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, The Allisons, Neil Bonnet, Swirvin Irvin, etc, etc, etc.

Yup, there was pretty much no competition 10 years ago. Please. Even Gordon (Whom I'm no fan of but the dude can drive) said when he's trying to get through traffic he just wants to be welded to the back bumper of the #3 car.
