Transom mount on the bow..

MNice

Question

I have a 14' lund without the small deck on the bow that you usually see bow mount trolling motors on. I have a transom mount and have been experimenting clamping the motor near the bow, with wood used as a spacer, sandwiching the aluminum. There is a little more flex than I feel comfortable with and I really don't want to dent or warp the skin of my boat. Has anyone done anything like this before, and did you end up wrecking any part of the boat??

Thanks for any help or suggestions!!

I did it all the time with my first boat and it worked great, I don't remember having any problems with it but it was a long time ago. Try using larger pieces of wood on both sides of the gunnel to spread the force/flex over a larger area.

Mnice; I ran a bowmount on my 16 ft. lund. I made a somewhat tirangular piece of plywood and bolted it thru the rail, then mounted the bowmount on it. It was tricky to get it right, but when I did it worked fine. (Use stainless bolts) The only problem with the setup is when the electric is retracted, it reaches to the front bench seat and is kind of in the way of anyone fishing up there.
