'Nother 334 question

Scoot

Question

I bought a 334c for the bow of my boat. I'm aware of the most of the past concerns/issues people have had with them.

Here's my question- will I have gps reception problems with the 334 if I plan to tilt it at about a 45 degree angle so I can see it from nearly right above the unit?

I know there were quite a few problems with the internal gps antennas going bad or not working from the start. Apparently they have changed the design for this year. Theoratically you should get good reception no matter what angle you have it at. I have an Ifinder, which has an internal antenna and I can get reception in the middle of my living room.

Ya as millacs guy said it should matter the direction of the unit. Like a hand held will work vertical, laying flat, upside down. So the 334 SHOULD work in the at situation. You might see a weaker sattille signal but it should still work. If it will I don't know. The problem with GPS is when stuff gets in the way. Like the windshield of a boat of a electronic cabinet like in Tiller boats. But on the bow in the open I sure whould think it should be just fine. I run my LCX 20 on the console of the boat behind the windshield on one of Cablea's Ram Mount kits so the receiver is right behind the unit. I have never had troubles with mine but I have heard some people say that their's will not work with this set up.

Scoot,

I have a buddy who has a large extension, something like a long Ram Mount, but made out of aluminum. It would make it easier to see the 334. I can get ahold of it if you care to look at it. My dad may be able to fabricate something like it.
