LMITOUT
I was wondering the same thing. After today's show, I now know how to make a sandwich! Is it Tony Dean Outdoors, or Indoors?------------------hook'm and cook'm
rap
i think this chef is supposed to be a regular on the show this year, he was on last week and this week, doesn't look like the last 15 minutes of the show will ever be worth watching anymore.. Sartell Angler
yeah, me and my brother were just joking about that this morning while watching the show -- that cook is a real ball of fire, isn't he? another stupid thing is the bozos fishing out of their trucks -- that isn't even a comfortable position to be fishing from, and it makes it a lot easier to lose fish in the hole. i was glad to see tony was still man enough to sit out on the ice on a bucket.\S.A

Guest
Have you tried some of them recipes yet? The featured chef is one of the best if not the best in the midwest. I have ate his chow and I can tell you it is well worth paying attention when he speaks food. If your ever in Pier SD you need to stop in at his restaurant or your missing the boat. I for one enjoy a piece on outdoor cooking and recipes as long as it is not too long. I am getting hungry just thinking about it Eh! ------------------"Ed on the Red"Backwater Guiding Service[email protected]fishingminnesota.com/ed-on-the-red/
LMITOUT
I'm sure there is no doubt that his food is good, but I'm watching T. Dean for the fishing/hunting...not cooking. Lots of outdoor shows have a cooking segment and it's nice to see how someone else prepares fish/game. No big deal, but it's not half of the show! I'm glad to see In-Fisherman is back on TNN again for a new season. The re-runs on the outdoor channel were getting overplayed.------------------hook'm and cook'm
Guest
Coldone, if I could reach you I'd give you a big kiss on your lips. You hit it right on the head. I don't view them as good or bad. I see them as a necessary evil. All outdoor shows made today, yesterday and tommorrow are paid advertisements. That doesn't make them bad. Just boring. Take em for what they are. I always have enjoyed the ones that try to teach you a little something. By getting your product featured in a major publication or have it mentioned on a show can have great rewards for a tackle manufactor, look at the Salmo craze. I myself have sponsors whos products I use in my business. By my exposing them to clients during an outing, perhaps they may choose to us it at home. I have always believed in the soft sell approach. FYI - I went to a Tony Dean ice fishing seminar last year and just about walked out because all he pushed was product and a certain guide outfit. You gotta pay the bills but lets be a little less of a schill. As far as the food segments go, I agree with BW ED. Most folks use a little to much cream of mushroon soup and "just wrap some bacon around it" and can use a tip or two. ------------------Kevin Neve's Devils Lake Guide Servicefishingminnesota.com/kevin-neve-guiding/e-mail: [email protected]Phone: 701-473-5411 or 701-351-4989Minnewaukan ND
huntnfish
When I see Tony Dean Outdoors on the preview channel I don't think about hunting geese or fishing walleyes through the ice. Lately, when I see his name I think hunting morel mushrooms or cooking? Has Tony lost it? Do the right thing Tony and hunt more ducks and geese and fish for more walleyes. Enough with the cooking shows and promo's.
Guest
I was dissapointed with the last two episodes as well, If this guy is such a great chef, couldn't he come up with a better idea than how to make a sandwich, give me a break Tony, If the guy would have had some new approach or at least some personality is one thing. I guess it is just like the rest of all the fishing and outdoor magazines, who are turning their backs on experienced outdoorsmen and turning to making their articles and features just long commercials and entry level type tips and techniques, in order to appeal to newbies and attract a larger market share. The Chemist
I was thinking of making a show of my own but: I don't think it would fly. My ideal show would be to do things that match the season not this talk of watching them out on water in Canada. I don't give a dump right now about catching big northerns if it ain't through the ice.
BLACKJACK
If you really want to yank Tony's chain, the next time you see him speaking at a fund raiser for waterfowl or pheasants, ask him how much hes getting paid!! (Ron Schara also). Its one thing to get paid to speak at the commercial ventures like the Northwest Sports Show but these guys are getting paid big bucks to speak at a fundraiser for an organization thats trying to preserve and help the wildlife that they makes a living off of!!!!! How many acres of land would that fee preserve???
Wobbler
I thought Tony always ate Pugsley Sandwiches! At least that is what the commercial says!
rap
chemist, your exactly right. i wish they'd do that to. i think tony dean is done with ice fishing for this season of shows and next weeks program is open water fishing somewhere, and everyone's favorite, HOW TO MAKE A TURKEY SANDWICH!!!! i might as well watch martha stewart i guess
MnSportsman
I didn't enjoy the show as much as in the past, due to the over-advertising, & an attempt at teaching everyone to make a "Jethro" or "Dagwood" sandwich. But, if ya really want to be heard, & let Tony D. know how ya feel, maybe go to his HSOforum. It might be the place to complain. BTW, you can get those recipes there too... hardee-har-har... Now... Back to some fishing!!See ya out there! [Note: I, in no way, am endorsing another HSOforum. Just referenced it, in a hopefully.. humorous way. ] ------------------Good Luck & Watch your bobber!MnSportsmanProud to be a member in good standing, of the "Church of the Divine Wilderness"! The Chemist
The one that got me this weekend was that Shara was doing his show from Norway. Like I'm ever going to Norway to fish/hunt. Maybe Alaska. I always thought that this was the land of 10,000 lakes. Why not visit each one that has fish? Maybe take a local angler w/ to either get pointers on the lake or to show them a trick or 2.

NorthWoodsGuy
Chemist - I couldn't agree more. I've often wondered why the show is even called "Minnesota Bound". It seems like more and more of his shows are out-of-state, or in this case, out-of-country. Just another vent. I'm so tired of these shows that strictly promotes product w/o giving any tips and tactics. I was very excited to see that Joe Bucher had a series of Ice Fishing Specials. But after watching a few of the episodes, I came to the conclusion that they should rename the show to "Buy Frabill Products". Now don't get me wrong, Frabill does make great products but I don't need them shoved down my throat. Why can't people make informative shows like In-Fisherman. They seem to be able to pay the bills while providing a quality show. There, I feel better. ------------------NorthWoodsGuy
Lip RIPPER!
I'd rather watch Tony Dean than John Gillespie from Wisconsin's Water's and Woods. I'm not sure if that guy is advertising Pabst beer or drinks a couple of gallons of it before he goes fishing. Any one-who-thinks-I-am-silly can run around, scream and hollar, and watch other people catch fish."Hey, I got another one on the Zipster! Holy Cow!"[This message has been edited by Lip RIPPER! Guest
By the way Chemist, the guy in the skates, he is Pete Maina. Pete is "The Man" when it comes to all things toothy that swims. A great guy and I would consider him a good friend. If your serious about pike and muskie look up his magazine Esox Angler ( www.esoxangler.com ). It is the best thing going on the topic by far. I would post a link but it would likely get Zapped.I think Pete has a well refines sense of patience with anything and anyone, even "ZIPPY".As far as a blade style baits go, the Zip lure is a hard one to beat. I have been doing very well with the glow green and metallic perch on rivers this season.------------------"Ed on the Red"Backwater Guiding Service[email protected][This message has been edited by Backwater Eddy (edited 01-14-2002).][This message has been edited by Backwater Eddy (edited 01-16-2002).]
The Chemist
I think his moniker was the Pike Master or something like that. That's the other think about (as you put it) Zippy G everyone that he fishes with has a moniker. And over New Years I saw the year end show and one guy had several different names according to what they were fishing for. One thing I would never want to do: fish w/ him on early ice. The way he bounces around you'd end up going through.
