KSTP isn't going to be boosting its signal anytime soon. KSTP is a regional clear channe,l 50KW (the maximum allowed) signal and operates fairly unidirectionaly during the daytime hours but after sunset it needs to change to a directional patern to avoid interference with WTWP in Washington DC.

WCCO, on the other hand, is a hemispherical clear channel station and can operate unlimited (curretly at 50KW) and unidirectional. The lack of any other station in North America broadcasting on 830 gives WCCO great reach.

If you're experiencing reception problems with KSTP that isn't going to change as I doubt KSTP is going to spend the kind of money it would take to become a true clear channel signal (i.e. obscene amounts of money if doable at all).

now I am depressed! why don't the twins make them put out a strong signal if they broadcast there games. I will be e-mailing the twins about this. I listen to all the games at work, because I work nights. and I know I cannot get 1500 in on the radio, but can get 830.

the good thing is I still will get the games on FM at the cabin on the weekends off the aitkin channel.

Because they can't ! If you renegotiated a couple of international treaties then KSTP could boost it's power. Or, you could purchase the AM station in Washington DC that broadcasts on 1500 and then shut it down perminantly and then petition the FCC to catagorize KSTP as a hemispherical clear channel signal. Then they could increase wattage and/or go with an omnidirectional antenna. The Vikings have a much better chance of winning 10 straight super bowls than KSTP does of boosting power.
