MuskyRookie
I am going to recarpet my 16 ft Northwood next month and would like to know if anyone could point me in the direction of how to do this myself.I am only doing the floor and decks as the carpet on the side is in great shape. I have all the tools just need to know the proper steps to take. Any help would be much appreciated!
0 NELS-BELLS
I did my bow area last fall. You will have to remove the floor so that you can staple the carpet underneath. The carpet is also glued to the wood, which makes for a fun time removing it. You might as well replace the wood while you got it up. Just use the old pieces for patterns. Same with the carpet. Good luck! Its not a fun job!Nels
0 Bigbartguy
if the wood isnt rotted, take an angle grinder w/ a wire brush to get the glue off. Buy a bunch of new stainless boat screws too - Fleet Farm has screw packs in their fishing area.
0 Steve Bakken
About half of the boats that we do had the floor pieces carpeted before installation, and the others were carpeted after the floor was in. If the latter is the case, then you shouldn't have to take out the floor, unless, of course it's rotten. Also use some staples to hold it down and prevent air bubbles. When the glue is dry, you can pop out the staples and you're good to go.
