Swing tongue question

JohnMickish

Question

I have a 3500lb Shorelandr trailer with 3X5 tongue that I would like to turn into a swing model so it will fit into my garage easier.

My question;

Is there anybody other than Shorelandr that makes a conversion or a replacement tongue? I have looked all over and all I can find are 3X3 and 3X4 models.

I've done all kinds of searching and am looking for a price for a 3X5. Shorelandr seems to be the only place I can find one that size. I will probably get the factory piece but I'm looking to see what an aftermarket price is so I know how bad I'm getting screwed. The 3X3 and 3X4 tongues are all in the $150 range.

I had a local welding shop convert mine. I am in Victoria so probably futher than you want to go from WBL. This guy cut the tongue and welded a couple pieces in place and I now have a nice swing tongue with no bolts etc. I think it cost around $75 and as I said it is all welded. I too looked at the conversion kits for around $150 but decided to stop in and ask. To my surprise it said it was very easy and would take an hour or so. I couldn't be happier with it.
