2hp 10" strikemaster ?

Huey

Question

I have a 2hp 8" auger. I'm thinking of getting and extra 10" auger (just the drill part, no motor) for the occasional lake trout or bluegill sight fishing trip. Most 10" augers are 3 hp. I'm wondering if the 10" auger will be too much for the 2hp motor.

Does anyone have a 2hp 10" auger? Does it work well?

Thanks for any info.

Huey

I have one, and it cuts great. I got the 10" 2HP for going after lakers, but never have fished for lakers. I have been tempted to go to an 8" hole, but I sure love the extra 2" hole.

Diddo on what everyone else said. I have the 10" lazer mag xpress and use it for everything from gills to lakers-it's not that much more weight compared to an 8". You really don't need a 10" for lakers, although it's nice. I would definitely buy one if I didn't have an auger, but personally wouldn't buy a 10" just for lakers if you already have the 8". Just my 2 cents.
