Lowrance Users - Update Your Software!!!

Just wanted to make sure you're all aware that in the last month or two Lowrance put new software version updates on their site for all/most of their gps units and antennas. You can download the new software to a SD card and update your gps, both permanent mounts and handhelds. If you have a permanent mount with external antenna make sure you update to the latest software for the antenna too.

On their site go to Products, then Software, then Updates. From there just follow the directions. Good luck.

Ok, I finally got an SD card and I think I installed the update correctly on the card. When I insert the card into my h20c should it upgrade automatically. I can see the update on the card from both the pc and the h2oc, when i go to browse MMC files. I just installed Java as well. Please help. Thank You

It's been a while since I did my updates, but I think the units updated automatically, and for the gps module there was a series of key-strokes you had to make to kick off the update. There was info on the Lowrance site about this and I thought they explained it pretty well.

You can look at the gps info on your h20 to see what version of software you have, maybe you already have the current version loaded.

I see on the lowrance site that windows vista isn't an option for your operating system for the h2o upgrade. Could this be the problem?

Possible, but not likely in my opinion. I would guess it is more likely a Java problem, I had a couple issues getting it to work correctly the first time I updated. And it doesn't work for me to write directly to my card, I have to write to my harddrive, then copy it to my card.

Most of the isssues you guys are describing are driver issues. You can download the drivers and software updates also on the lowrance HSOforum. After you install the program on the card the program also has a feature that erases the update after it is sucessfully installed so it is not used in other units.

On a side note I also updated my LGC-2000 gps unit. The update allows waypoint sharing between networked units, and also powers up faster.
