Turkey License Question

My friend got chosen for Spring Turkey and I did not. He has never been hunting and I was wondering if it was legal for me to go and sit with him even though I do not have a license.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

You can assist him (without a license) while turkey hunting as long as you are not in possesion of any firearm or bow.

That even includes assisting him with calling?

I was just hoping to sit out there with him.

Yes, you can assist with the calling. Just no guns or bows.

This is one of the positive recent changes by the DNR. I when round and round with the folks down in St Paul over this several years ago. It just didn't make sense especially when you are taking your kids for the first time and don't get drawn and are dealing with the surplus situation and end up in different seasons. After a lot of feedback from turkey hunters the change was made.
