Rivernut
Looking at purchasing an onboard charger. One deep cycle and one cranking. What amp charger would anyone suggest? Is 6 amps per battery enough to charge in 8-10 hours? Thanks
0 walleyewild
I went with the 20 amp fully distributed 2 bank from Cabela's. One bank is hooked up to the starting battery, the other to the deep cycle battery, the deep cycle always requires more current to restore to full charge. It really doesn't matter who makes the charger, just make sure you get the fully distributed output current, makes for faster recharge times IMO. And the maintenance mode is nice to have when I put my boat away after a weekend or week of fishing I plug it in and don't worry about the batteries being charged when I go out the next time. 0 Northlander
I would go at least 10amp per bank. If you have a 24 volt system you will need a 3 bank. 2 for trolling battery's and 1 for starting. If you have a 12 volt system you will need a 2 bank. 1 for trolling battery and 1 for starting battery. I have a Minkota and have had good results with it. There are a lot of good systems out there though.
