sdstatekid
I was wondering what the approximate weight would be of a really fat 14.5" perch?
harvey lee
A yellow perch would be 1.5 pounds according to the chart I looked at.
Team Otter
2# would not be out of the question.
sdstatekid
thanks for the responses, i don't fish for perch very much, but my buddy told me to give it a try on saturday and the 14.5 ended up being the first one I caught. I thought it was to big to eat and i didn't really know if it was big enough to mount since i've never caught a jumbo like him so i let him go. Team Otter
That's definitely a trophy perch thus making it worthy for the wall. Great fish!
sdstatekid
thanks, he's back in the lake so maybe he will end up going on someone else's wall or making their day, i will always remember my first jumbo without him being on my wall. eagle-walleye
About a month ago I had caught a bunch of perch that where 13.5 inches long and they where 1.5lbs and a a 14 1/4 incher that was 2lbs, so if is fat im sure it was pushing 2 lbs easily
Mike Walerak
If you caught it where I think you did, it is well over 2lbs. SD fish grow faster and weigh more than most others due to the forage.mw
sdstatekid
Your guess is probably right Mike. Only a few miles from the town you used to live in. The other ones we caught were all between 10 and 12 inches, so not close to as big as that 14 1/2, but you still get a pretty nice fillet off of them.
