dkrusin
Is there a map available for a Garmin GPS that covers Lac Seul. Thanks!!
Fish Head
There is both a Lakemaster Freedom map chip and a Navionics chip that cover Lac Seul. Although in general I like the Lakemaster chips better, the Navionics chip is better for Lac Seul. Neither one will provide you with a lot of contour, just because it's soo remote and good contour mapping still doesn't exist for Lac Seul like it does with many of our Minnesota lakes. They're still worth having though!
iffwalleyes
The new navionic canada chip has lac seul and it is pretty good. The basics are there. One thing we found out when there this last year lac seul is apparently at the end of the world because the standard lowrance map on the plotter runs out part way across the lake. But the navionic chip took care of that. It is still better than not having a chip.
deacon
Any other opinions on which chip for Lac Seul?
Fish Head
If your question is which is better, there isn't much to discuss. I've used both. The Freedom Map will just give you an outline of the shore with NO contour. The Naviaonics will give you the same contours that you get with a Lac Seul paper map (10ft, 20ft, 40ft). The Navionics will also have a line on the map showing the safe passage route and will show most of the marker bouys.Good Luck and good fishing!
