These are all full frame in HSC mode. All taken handheld with a Nikon D2X and 300mm F4. Aperture priority, morning sun.

Beautiful colors, Tom. Humor us non-Nikon types and tell me what HSC mode is. Is that a focus mode that continually and automatically adjusts focus to follow a moving subject?

No sir. Full Frame Resolution on the D2X is 12.4 mpxls. HSC mode is an in-camera function that reduces the full frame shot to 6.8 mpxls. It basically crops the image in camera, HSC=high speed crop. This mode also takes the camera's 5 frames per second, to 8 frames per second. I shoot quite often in this mode when shooting birds, as I get twice as many photos per card, and the effective crop basically gives me additional focal length. There are hash marks inside the viewfinder of the X that allow the shooter to compose the shot when in HSC mode. It is really an awesome function. It comes in very handy when length and speed outweigh the need for mega resolution.
