Best Knots

I would like to start by thanking everyone for their thoughts on fishing line. I picked up 20lb Power Pro line today and I am now curious what knot everyone uses for their knots.

For all the superlines I like to tie the palomar knot.Its a strong knot and will not slip out or cut itself.Plus it is very easy to tie.

I agree. The palomar is one of the strongest easiest knots to tie. I also like the san diago jam which I learned while visiting an uncle in California. It's tough to tie a trilene or imp. clinch with a super line. They never really seat right. The three knots I use the most are: the arbor knot for tying onto the spool, the palomar for tying to hook or jig, and the double uni for tying super line to mono. All these knots are simple to tie and very strong. I also recommend using pliers to tie with braid and not teeth, and a sharp knife as nail clippers just won't "cut it."

Thanks for the reply, I am using the same knot but just wasn't sure if there was better one for heavier line. When using spiderwire or the catfish line I have on one of my reels you have to use pliers with a cutter because nail clipper won't work. Look forward to seeing everyone in crookston.

I like palomar for the first terminal in line from the reel, then uni knots after that.

I use the Palomar and find it very strong. One thing I do is I wet the knot with my mouth before I pull it tight. I find I get a better knot this way. I had it tested at a fishing show one time and the guy claimed the Palomar is the strongest knot but I find it the simplist.
