Liddell - Ortiz 2

This should be a great bout. Two contrasting styles. I am rooting for Liddell, I'm a fan of his looping counter-punching style. But my attitude towards Ortiz has changed in the past few years. Mainly due to his coaching style in TUF 3 but also to the fact he has had a few nice fights in a row. That should be a great fight.

I am also looking forward to seeing Bisbing back in action. He seems to be the real deal. When does Lutter fight Silva?

I think I'm going for Ortiz this time? Last time he got poked in the eye with a thumb and I think that may have had an effect? Ortiz was tagging Liddell pretty good also, before he got tagged, then it took some pretty heavy artillery to finish him off...he didn't go quietly into the night!

My opinion of Ortiz has changed also in the last couple of years. He seems more personable now, maybe he has matured more, not so raw.

It will be good to see Bisbing and see what he can do and I think Lutter is gonna get ate up by Silva.

Admittedly I am new to watching ultimate fighting but I could swear that I already saw this bout - if that is the case then I don't want to spoil it for you guys. They were definately saying this was the rematch and the winner knocked the loser out inside of the first couple of minutes.

Daze Off

Nope. Its live to tonight on PPV. UFC 66

Wish I could watch this one. I'm pulling for Ortiz but I think those guys are going to stand and bang. I'm sure Ortiz wants to beat Chuck at his own game but Ortiz won't shy away from the chance to take Chuck down and ground & pound him either. Should be exciting!

Anybody get to watch this???

Liddell beat Ortiz by TKO in the 3rd round

Keith Jardine beat Forrest Griffin by TKO in round 1

Bisping won

Some interesting fights coming up for UFC 67

Matt Serra vs St. Pierre for the title

Travis Lutter vs Anderson Silva for the title

Also Mirko "Cro Cop" & "Rampage" Jackson will have matches in the UFC. Could be interesting for heavyweight & light heavyweight divisions this year. smile.gif

I seen the results on the UFC site last night when we got home from the casino.

I was a little disappointed...but it won't put me off my feed! grin.gif Not that I dislike Liddell, because I don't, he's a hammer and exciting to watch...but as of late, I like Ortiz also and I would have liked to see him win. Oh well.

I thought Forest would fair better against Jardine then what Bonner did...although Bonner won a decision, I thought he had lost that fight....then he gets in with Griffin and takes him deep early? "I know nutting!!"

Amazing what a couple of solid whacks to the kanoggin, a good kick in the schwanz, or someone bending your arm or leg the wrong way, can accomplish! grin.gif

We got the PPV last night. Good fights all around and some surprises as well.

Ortiz could not get inside on Liddell. He would try and shoot but from much too far out and would face Liddell's world-class sprawl. He did get one take down but Liddell was back to his feet and free in a few seconds. Liddell almost ended the fight in the first round when he hurt Ortiz badly with a looping left hook that landed flush on Ortiz' temple. His legs went out and he crumbled against the fence and faced a barrage of punches that were getting through a wide-open guard. He survived it, however and the fight made it halfway through the third round. Liddell is unreal!

Bisbing won although he was not terribly impressive. The guy he faced almost choked him out early in the fight but Bisbing escaped. He won and had an okay showing. I expected more.

The 'surprise' although I wouldn't say a shocker was The Athlete beat Chris Leben by choke out. Leben couldn't tap because he was completely out. Way to step in there Mazakati. Either way, that is the second nice victory for The Athlete. He defeated Ed 'Quick Fuse' Hermon on a recent fight night and now Leben. Rather impressive one-two start to a UFC resume.

The Griffin fight was a suprise. Besides having true grit and a vicious leg kick I have always found Jardine to be a guy who gets cut easily bit is tough and always comes forward. Nothing spectacular although I thought he got jobbed in the Bonner decision. I believe he won that fight...convincingly. Either way, he won this fight in surprising fashion. After spending most of the first round losing the stand up game against Griffin, Jardine landed a series of punches and upon dazing Griffin, landed two more shots to drop Griffin. Jardine proceeded to land numerous shots to the side of Griffin's head from a loose Griffin guard until the contest was stopped. Impressive victory by Jardine. Griffin took the loss pretty hard.

Last....Arlovsky beat the dude who TKO'd Frank Mear in his comeback bout a year or so ago. He seems to be on the comeback trail.

Quintin Jackson is a nice addition to UFC as is Cro-cop. Nice...I like the direction it is headed.

Burn...Ever since Leben took a leak in that guys bed on the UFC series, it doesn't bother me a bit when he gets his a$$ kicked. What kind of a creep does that?

Same for the mouth, Ed Herman...one really long arm from patting his self on the back and he seems to be about as personable and animated as a piece of liver....on the series, he always looked to me like he was half stoned.

I never did think that either one of those guys where even close to as good as they thought they were...especially Leben.

I concur. I have not been overly impressed with either guy (Leben or Hermon). I find it interesting/frustrating that they coddle certain fighters to gain status in the ranks, namely the likes of Leben, Koschek and other former TUF participants. Koschek has improved a ton which is more than I can say for Leben.

McDonald whipped Quick Fuse in the stand-up and obviously on the ground as well. I like when these guys are brought in to be aptly self-described as 'stepping stones' and they expose the heck out of some of these guys. Silva handled Leben and completely exposed him. McDonald outclassed Hermon and Leben and I had never heard of him. Even if they are not the cream of the crop it at least puts a well rounded fighter in McDonald ahead of each of them in the middleweight division.

Thanks for the updates on the fights guys. I didn't get to see them saturday either. There was an all day UFC fights show on Spike yesterday. I was able to see the Jardine vs Bonner fight and agree Jardine was robbed of a win. It seems the judges are partial to leg kicks some times and not during other fights. I watched one of Sylvia's early fights and boy has he improved since then. I look forward to seeing more of his fights. I am also glad Liddell won again!!
