Camera value?

Hey guys, finally got into the digital world and love it. The question is I have a older nikon fg camera with 50 mm nikor lense, a chinar 80-200 lense, and a vivitar283 flash.

What kind of money should I ask for? New this stuff was around seven hundred twenty years ago.

There is a book out there on camera values, don't recall the name, you should be able to find it at your local library. But the best source for pricing will be eeeeek bay. They have a huge photo section, just do a search for your model and see what past history shows them going for.

If you have a good camera shop locally you could bring it in and ask what it is worth. If you are around the Twin Cities National Camera can give you an idea of what they would give you. If you did sell back to them it is usually for a store credit, which is no problem since you will soon find yourself wanting more and more glass, tripods, flash, bags, filters, the list will keep getting longer and the price higher

Be prepared to not get much for your gear, the market is being saturated with so many people switching to digital. Good luck and welcome to the digital age, you're going to love it.

Good advice, Dbl. You could also check hsolist and see if they have similar gear and what prices it's going for.
