Big 10

Recommended Posts

Just looked at the polls and was surprised to see the only ranked(top 25) Big 10 teams are WI and OH St. Mich St and IL must have lost a bunch of seniors? And who's coaching IN this year?

Looking forward to seeing how the Badgers hold up come Jan - I see they play OH St Jan 9th at home, should be a good one. Later.

Cooter nice avatar, good taste in funny guys.

Well I know my Boilermaker squad is in year two with coach Matt Painter, last year was brutal. Next year Purdue, I believe, has the top 4 Indiana High School recruits signed and coming in. I heard this second hand, I hope it is accurate.

We are currently 8-2 through the early soft schedule stuff, some day I hope we can play at a level like we did in the mid 90's.

Sampson is the coach at IU.

Looking forward to some ESPN+ weekend Big Ten BBall games.

What to think about OSU getting kicked by Florida? Time for the heart of the Big 10 schedule, I'm looking forward to it! Hoping for a stellar Big 10 performance come March, whether its the Badgers or OSU or any other team. Later.

It is going to be a very long year for me. I am predicting a big year for the Badgers. Experienced PG and a big time scorer with some guys with size for rebounding. The long year part of it for me is that I am a Gopher fan who happens to be engaged to a Badger fan. I will be taking a lot of abuse this year. crazy.gif

As a Gopher fan, I feel your pain. As part of your pre-nup though, would make sure you get her Leinenkugel's stock. wink.gif

Well, guess who's in first place? grin.gif

Ohio St. and Wisky are the tops this year. 3rd place is really up in the air and after that it is a pickem. I say we are looking at 4-5 in the dance this year. My picks: Ohio St., Bucky, Mich St, Michigan, Illinois.

I really thought Purdue would be better than they looked last night. The way the gophers played for the first half and start of the second half, the boilers should have put them away early and been done with it.

The good news is she only went to school there so she still hates the Packers. The better news is she has a friend that works for Leine's. Sometimes stuff just falls out of the back of his car and into my garage. grin.gif

I hope the Ohio St basketball team plays tonight like the football team did last night! Will be a great test for the Badgers - overall I think Ohio St is more athletic but the Badgers are sound and consistent with enough size to challenge Oden. Hopefully a good game - with the Badgers winning. If anything, the Badgers win tonight at home and Ohio St wins Feb 25th.

Well certainly a big win for WI, the 3ball certainly kept Ohio St in it. Was really the first WI game I've watched this year and they are good - #4 good, I'm not so sure about that. Sounds like Indiana is coming around, hope we get at least 5 teams in the Big Dance. Later.

Boy they sure hung around for a long time, their guard McKenzie(sp) and that center that got in foul trouble had good games, if the later could have used his head it could have been a different game.

Boy was it ever, right up thru Thad Matta spitting his gum out, picking it up off the floor and putting it back in his mouth! Didn't realize the 5 second rule applied to gum. Would've been nice to see the Badgers win but not to be today.

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
