rod storage for my Voyager

picksbigwagon

Question

I was at the Big Cabela's yesterday in Owatonna, and they had rod cases/arrow cases for ice fishing in their fishing dept. $21 is what they were asking. Tonight I was in burnsville at Dick's Sporting goods, same exact case 10 bucks. I picked one up at Dick's sporting goods, it holds 4 rods perfectly. Keep your eyes open and keep on praying for ice.

pick - what brand are the bags and what do they look like? When I mod'd my Voyager a few years ago, I built in PVC rod tubes (see below), but found that it doesn't work as well as I had hoped. They're coming out of the house tonight and I need an alternative for rod storage.

Yeah - my experience with the PVC has been lots of snapped line and sharp edges grating on the reels/lines. I'll admit, it was a last minute addition and not too well thought out. Planning on moving to rob bags and using that slot (where the PVC is now) to store them there.

They are arrow cases for bow hunters. It is in the hunting section the case is 10 o r 12" x 36" and 4-5" deep. it has a hunting seen on one side of it. It is a small gun case basically, but used to hold arrows. Go to Dick's and ask....

Thanks for the heads up, pick. I grabbed 2 of those cases over lunch today at Dick's, one for walleye rods and one for panfish rods. They are tagged $14.99 but rang up $9.99. Brand name is Dosko; specs read 36" x 12" x 3-3/4". The foam pads have slots cut in them to slide your rod right in so it doesn't bounce around/move. Here are a couple pics for anyone else who might like to see...
