Minn Kota Pro Woes

prov1900

Question

I have a Minn Kota Maxxum Pro. This summer, I was blowing the automatic circuit breaker. Replaced with a new one, and now I am having the same problems, i.e., losing all power after about 45 to 60 minutes. After about 20 to 30 minutes, the motor will run normally again, for awhile, then die again. Batteries are fine. The motor is an 05. What is causing this? Is it the trolling motor itself? The dealer says that they will send it in to get looked at, or replaced. The problem ruined a week long fishing trip this spring and after replacing the breaker, thought I had it solved until this fall. No luck. Want to get it taken care of for the last time hopefully. I use my trolling motor a lot. FYI, I normally run it at about 30 % or less...if that helps.

Any MK authorized service center can check the amp draw of the motor to see if it is drawing more juice than it should. If it is at or less than specs you have some other wiring issue.

What breaker amperage? Which Minn Kota model?
