Packers fans

I guess we can stop hearing about how a Packer fan would never boo their home team. I'm waiting for a game to not sell out next, that would be icing on the cake for all the times I've heard about the Packer fans never booing and always selling out. Unless they get better, I'll be waiting to hear about a TV blackout at Lambeau.

And yes, by the way, for all you Packer fans, I know the Vikings suck, I'm just not in denial. And I am also aware that the Vikes have never won a superbowl. Its just fun to rub it in sometime, I've lived for too long in a bordertown with a bridge. grin.gif

Quote:

GREEN BAY, WIS. - New York Jets coach Eric Mangini showed his team a tape of the "Ice Bowl," and fullback B.J. Askew ran around shirtless in pregame warmups to prove the cold wasn't so bad.

Then Chad Pennington stoked the Jets' hopes of a playoff run.

Pennington put together three touchdown drives of 70 yards or more in the second quarter and the Jets cruised to a 38-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

"I just think we're starting to click," Pennington said. "Any time you put in a new system, it's going to take some time. It's a process. We experienced some success early in the run game, and then everything started to come along."

New York (7-5) built a 31-0 halftime lead as snow flurries floated to the ground on a windy, 19-degree day.

Pennington, 25-for-35 for 263 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, connected with eight receivers. Cedric Houston carried 22 times for a career-high 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Fans booed the Packers (4-8) several times during the first half and loudly as they jogged to the tunnel at halftime.

"I'd be booing, too," Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said. "Shoot, they should boo us. I've got no problem with that. This is a man's league, a man's business and a man's game."

Green Bay barely managed to avoid being shut out at home for the third time this season. Brett Favre's seasonlong struggles with passing accuracy continued as the three-time MVP was 24-for-47 for 214 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Favre laughed off the notion that he should have made some sort of motivational speech at halftime.

"I don't know what to say," Favre said. "We're losing 31-to-nothing at halftime. 'Pick it up, guys?' I mean, that's embarrassing."

Mangini, who showed his players footage of the frigid 1967 NFL championship game between Green Bay and Dallas to help motivate them, praised his team's ability to adjust to chilly conditions.

The Packers are 1-5 at Lambeau Field this season.

I totally agree with McCarthy. Fans have every right to boo and should do so when they are exposed to the absolutely awful performance that shouldn't even be called football last Sunday. I think Packer fans have high expectations for their team and just like anyone else voice their displeasure when the players (and coaches) don't perform up to that level. I for one would never say that Packer fans don't boo. If for no other reason, just because it is a generalization. Just because one boos doesn't mean they aren't a die hard fan. If anything its the opposite. IMO, If I'm booing it means I feel strongly about the performance and want to let the team know. If am not a true fan, then I just jump ship and start rooting for the Bears just because they are winning.

As far as the comments about not selling out... I think you are going to be waiting for a long time. The games are sold out on a season ticket basis, and I'm sure everyone knows how long that waiting list is. Therefore, in order for there to be unpaid-for seats, the entire waiting list for season tickets would need to disappear. As far as being empty seats, I did see a number of those towards the end of the game last week. Packers fans are just like anyone else, and I can guarantee their thoughts were something along the line of, "We're getting our butts kicked and I'm freezing my tail off out here!" I might not be the last one to leave the stadium either.

Green and Gold, are you sure you aren't originally from Mn?

My main point is that there are A LOT, not all, but A Lot of Packer fans that have criticized Vikings fans for being band wagon fans. Whether its booing or not buying tickets, the fans do have a right to express their displeasure. However, it doesn't mean that we are jumping off the band wagon, unfortunately there are Pack fans that don't see it that way.

We'll get it back Buzz, it may take a little while, but we'll get it back...and I doubt Favre will be at the helm when it happens. (Although you and I both know that he could be playing in a wheelchair 20 years from now and still be the top 5 in the league!!!) blush.gif

That's kind of funny, Trigger. I admit that I was born and raised in MN. I just had to jump ship over to cheezy God's country though. I think we are on the same page. As much as we both like to make fun of each others fans (Vikes fans = thug supporting bandwagoners, Pack fans = blaze orange wearing redneck bratwurst eaters) we are both actually very similar, and ultimately want the same thing...to kick each others' butts! wink.gif And then there's this year: draft position!!

I hadn't heard that rumor!! That would be great, we get him in his dynamic years and GB gets him when he is getting close to being a has been. It would be perfect... Randy could run a crossing pattern and as the ball hits him in the hands Sharper takes him out and he cries the rest of the game. tongue.gif

all i got to say is the packers played a heck of a season and the way they ended their season with the bears was a big incentive for me. beating the viqueens twice this year is awesome but not that big of an accomplishment laugh.gif

Packers still suck ....... or is it their bandwagon fans . You know , the ones that were hollering for everybody to get fired after the Packers bad start ( again ) and who are now back on the bandwagon now that the Cheeseweasles won a few . I have heard it for years . Favre misses one and you " Packer Fans " want to retire him , loose two in a row and fire the coach , Green fumbles and you want him benched . But win a few and your super fans again . I know .. you won a super bowl , yada yada yada . Heard it before . Know how many Packer fans it takes to change a light bulb ? 100 . One to change it and 99 to talk about how great the old bulb was . I think Favres a heck of a QB and hope he comes back - he is still your best chance to win but if he throws an int. the first game - we'll hear about how he should have retired . Same old - same old .

Nip,

The key word in your sentence was "ended". It was their last game, now on the other hand, the team they beat up on are still in the running for prom queen. It is down to the final four and they have as good a chance as the other three and a much better chance than Brett and the "Curd Craniums". As the Hawk-a-Roo says before each White Sox game, "Sit back, relax and strap it down". Let the games begin!
