Taxidermy question

I was wondering if anyone has information on what to do when your deer mount's nose begin's to show sign's of cracking. I have seen this on many mounts and was thinking about calling the guy up who mounted it for suggestions. It was done in 2003 so it's not that old. Any thought's? BC

Is it small cracks or larger ones. For only three years old it seems kind of odd. It can be fixed without to much trouble. One thing that people do is to put thier mounts above a fire place and that is kind of hard on them.

This is a very easy fix and just requires a little touch up work. Give the guy a call and he most likely do it for little or no charge.

Three years is pretty soon to be seeing cracks, but it really varies with environment. Low humidity, heat, exposure to sunlight, etc. all play a part.

After you get it redone, you may want to consider another location for your mount

My taxidermist uses vasoline on the nose and around the eyes every so often.
