Question

My favorite old '96 Powerstroke starts fine, blower works great, but NO heat! Quick fix? Thermostat or fuse? Call the dealer? Trade for a new one? Dump it for a Chevy?

I can't get out to do nuttin!!

If the blower is working I would have to guess it is not a fuse. Is it low on coolant? Does the temp gauge read where it normally does? Do the hoses going to the heater core feel hot? If you put the blower on the lowest setting can you feel a little heat?

I've had the same thing a couple times on vehicles. It was the heater core plugged. The one time I was able to get it in for a good flush and it cleared the system and worked fine. The next time the flush wasn't enough and ended up putting in a new heater core. Not good.

Try the flush.

Like CC said, flush the coolant. When my chevy blazer did it 2 years ago, I put in some radiator flush, drove around for a week or so and then got it flushed at a mechanic. Worked great. But don't drive around too long without draining the flush you put in because it will start to eat parts in the engine.
