Worst Wild Game Ever

Hockey Guy

I have been a season ticket holder for the Wild since the beginning. Last night was the worst effort I have ever seen out of them ever. In the past you always knew they would show up and give a good effort even if they had little chance of winning. Well, last night there was only a couple of guys that came to play. I have to say the Johnnson played awesome, and Manny played well, but the rest of guys just plain sucked! It wasn’t that they got out-skated or lost the races to the puck. The fact is most of the guys didn’t even enter the race to begin with! Loafing off the ice on line changes, not completing passes, turnovers galore… Absolutely pathetic!

My friend and I were so frustrated that we started to count how many times the Wild completed two passes in a row. Anyone want to guess how many times that happened in the second period not counting power plays? 2 times. Yes that’s correct. Twice the entire second period! Neither of those times were they able to complete the third pass by the way. It’s no surprise that they only had 3 shots in the second period. We didn’t count in the third period but I can tell you that the effort wasn’t any better.

I just needed to get that off my chest. I know three of there best players are out so I didn’t expect them to win last night anyhow. All I want is a good effort!

The wife and I felt the same way. San Jose didn't look much better either IMO. Too much watching the game by our players instead of being part of the action. It wasn't even like bounces weren't going our way or things like that, they just weren't into it. How about that delayed penalty scoring chance by us....on us...lol I thought it was gonna go in.

the wild should have won tonight. the goal that wasn't. the wild need upstairs coaches like football does, so they could have replayed that goal. well we got a point, but it should have been 2.

I was switching between the Gopher and Wild games so I saw replays of “the goal that wasn’t” and there was no doubt that it was in. Since I didn’t see it when the play happened, can anyone tell me if the Wild players asked for a review at the next whistle? My understanding is that if the coach or players ask for a review it is supposed to be reviewed. If they did ask, then the NHL dropped the ball. If they didn’t ask, then the Wild dropped the ball! If the Wild ask for a review, and felt strongly enough about it, Lamaire should have used a time-out if necessary to get them to look at it.

Skoula and Carney definitely aren’t the players they used to be. I have been pretty impressed with Shawn Bell. I wouldn’t mind seeing him stay up and Skoula put on waivers. Carney always seems to get better as the year goes on. He is getting up there in age so I don’t know how long that trend will continue.

I came up out of my chair on that shootout goal by Bouchard tonight...that was a sweet move. And I think it was an accident, and he just reacted when he saw that his initial move wasn't going to work...

I was happy to see how they played against Dallas on Saturday, and in last nights game. I believe there were more people at last nights game than Fridays Detroit match up. They didn't stand around and watch the play, we actually saw good pressure with a few mishaps. Manny scared me with those goals, especially the second one. I know Johnson probably could've covered the pass better, but it wasn't exactly at lightning speed.

Was hoping one of the injured players would've made the line up, but wasn't meant to be. Fosters broken larynx sounds messed up...I've never heard of such a thing, but again it sounds messed up.

I think it was a planned move, but he was awful tight against the goalie. I wouldn't have been too surprised if they had disallowed it.

Bouchard’s move was definitely a planned move. He has been working on it in practice. I was at the game so I still need to see some replays to be sure, but I think it was illegal and should not have counted. The rules of a shootout are pretty specific, and one of them is that you are not allowed to move the puck backwards. The puck has to be moving forward or side to side. If he left the puck sitting in one spot and then skated past it, spun, and then shot it in, it is a legal goal. It sure looked to me like he moved that puck backwards when he spun around. I was very surprised that they allowed it.

I thought the Wilds effort was pretty good the last couple of games as well. Last nights Hawks game was pretty boring though. Most of the shots came from way outside. The two goals Manny gave up were bad goals. The first goal was really bad in my opinion and I thought he was going to get yanked right away. The second goal was a nice shot, but Manny was way out of position and I think 75% of the goalies in the league would have gotten it. Oh well, a win is a win. I think they are tied again for the last playoff spot in the West. It’s too early to be watching that anyhow.

Demitra’s fourth concussion? Is he done for good or what? If he is done, that may let the Vikings off the hook for the worst trade ever… Nope… nobody will ever top that Herschel Walker trade.
